Japan Studio gained the confidence to create a richer world for Astro after the success of Astro Bot Rescue Mission for the PlayStation VR in 2018. The positive reception of this demo then paved the way for Astro Bot, which won countless awards and accolades and even secured the title of Game of the Year 2024 amidst the fierce competition. Pre-ordering the digital edition comes with the above as well as Astro Bot’s digital artbook and soundtrack. Sony‘s really going all in on the upcoming adventure, and gauging fan response, it’s working wonders.
To the right of the mine is a hole in the wall you can go into, then progress through the obstacles to find this artifact at the end. This Astro’s Playroom Collectible Guide lists everything in chronological order (all Artefacts and Puzzle Pieces in one playthrough). The PULSE Elite Wireless Headset is a premium version of the PULSE 3D Wireless Headset that carries over its noise-cancelling tech, and has the same magnetic driver tech as the PULSE Explore earbuds. Its other addition is a boom arm microphone that can be used as an alternative to the DualSense’s microphone for voice chat. The PULSE Explores are PlayStation’s first wireless earbuds, and contain the same dual-microphone noise-cancelling technology from the PULSE 3D Wireless Headset.
Each artifact is cleverly concealed across levels‚ often requiring careful exploration to find. They add depth to the game’s story and celebrate its nostalgic roots. Instead it’s used to connect to a PlayStation 5 and play compatible games via Remote Play (a feature that dates back to the PlayStation Vita playing PS3 games). It retains the signature haptic feedback and adaptive trigger motors of the DualSense controller. kuwin com is a headset designed to use 3D audio with PS4 and PS5 games that support it, allowing for sounds to be heard as if all around the player, similar to a surround sound system. It also features two microphones that can cancel out background noises, and still has a 3.5mm jack to use as a standard headset. This redesign also came with a branding refresh, switching from red to blue and adopting a new logo style similar to the PS2, both of which are still in use today. The UMD, or Universal Media Disc, was the physical distribution method for the PSP. Rather than using cartridges, the PSP is one of the only handhelds to use optical media for the task. UMDs weren’t just for games, as Sony released many movies and even a few TV shows on the format to be viewed on the handheld, most famously Spider-Man 2. The Buzz Controller is the peripheral designed for use with the Buzz! Series of trivia games for the PlayStation 2 and 3, with over eighteen games released between 2005 and 2010.
Astro’s Playroom is as old as the PlayStation 5, and this is most likely the first game new owners booted up. Despite being a brief experience, this is the kind of game that can be played with family members and is worth playing in 2025. Sony Interactive Entertainment finally nailed the platforming genre, and it only took a cute little robot to give them the courage to innovate. Yet another unlockable display for the Labo area is a Bot throwing a blue boomerang around. The shape is a reference to the infamous “Boomerang” prototype controller, an unofficial name for the controller that was shown alongside the PlayStation 3 when it debuted.
Running at a smooth 4K 60fps, Astro’s world may not be massive and require huge draw distances or populate the screen with hundreds of enemies, but it’s certainly pretty. Natural environments come together with PS5 internal parts and other pieces of hardware in a beautiful blend of the environmental with the technological. A grassy plain looks beautiful in 4K, only for the plants to be topped with PlayStation face button symbols rather than flowers.
But now there is a new challenger and while Astro isn’t much of a character his games are becoming some of the best in Sony’s line-up. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – Just after the pinball area you will slide across some ice blocks. This puzzle piece is just after one of the ledges you drop down on the blocks. You can hold the touchpad button down to bring yourself to a stop on the ice. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – In this same pinball area, knock out the 6 bowling pin enemies around the center bumper to make this puzzle piece appear.
His favorite console is the Nintendo 3DS, he plays a new FIFA every year and tries to broaden his gaming horizons. Loves broadly understood computer equipment and disassembles everything that falls into his hands. It deserves a place among the greats though – Astro’s Playroom has the coherence, character and abundance of ideas, executed with real clarity, of the very best platformers. In Astro’s Playroom, the player has to complete 4 main locations divided into 4 levels.
Following Astro’s Playroom (2020), it is the fifth overall installment in the Astro Bot series and marks Team Asobi’s first game developed since its separation from Japan Studio. Astro’s Playroom was the final game released by Japan Studio before their dissolution in April 2021. Team Asobi was formally spun-off into an independent studio within Sony’s PlayStation Studios in June 2021. A full-length sequel, Astro Bot, was announced on May 30, 2024, and was released for the PlayStation 5 on September 6, 2024. Two of these levels involve regular platforming whereas the other two involve a special power-up suit which makes use of the DualSense controller’s capabilities. Another example is the ball suit in which the player must swipe the touchpad to guide the ball. If Astro Bot falls or gets defeated, the level will restart from the latest checkpoint cleared. For starters, the load times are super-fast thanks to the SSD so getting into and out of levels never has you waiting. Even better is that if you find that you missed some collectibles and want to go back to get them then pulling up the Activities menu will give you options to instantly jump to where you need to go.
To collect all the collectibles, you will also need to walk around the main location – the CPU Plaza. PlayStation Labo lets you complete the collection by drawing prizes in a Gatcha-style game. Every level has tons of retro tech to collect and store in the PlayStation Labo.
If you miss and trigger the checkpoint on the lower platform you’ll need to restart the level to try again, if you don’t trigger it you can just jump off the side. To fly as far as possible you should hold the controller tilted back the whole way, then jump when you want to drop. Also at the second Checkpoint, head left along the cliff to find a Bot kneeling in front of a lad with a staff. The Bot with the staff is the Maiden in Black, a demon who uses souls collected by the player character to help them level up in the Nexus.

Earning them provides a sense of accomplishment as you progress through the game’s charming and nostalgic levels. We hope you are getting ready for a good summer and have enjoyed the last few weeks of gaming news. Many of the bots making up the crew are cameo characters that have marked the PlayStation history.
